Sheffield Hallam students visit Rawmarsh JSC – 21/02/11

Hallam Students

Henry Boot Construction’s Rawmarsh JSC team played host to a group of Structural Engineering students from Sheffield Hallam University last week, when they visited site to gain some hands-on experience of life on site.

The first-year students appreciated seeing civil engineering in practice and benefited from the seeing the practicalities and real life applications of their academic studies.

Links are being forged between the company and the University, and the students have been invited back at later stages in the job to see how works progress.

"The students attending site were enthusiastic and showed a keen willingness to learn - gaining real life experience will benefit them by widening their view of the constraints of working on a live site.
“In turn the visits will enable them to design out risk and minimise the likelihood of creating unbuildable elements on future project designs.
“We are happy to work with them to this end and develop good relationships with the designers of the future."
