  • Steel Stockholding Warehouse

A new 7,200m2 warehouse for Tata Steel Ltd

A design and build contract to construct a stockholding warehouse for Tata Steel, as part of the Fox Valley regeneration scheme in Stocksbridge.

The Tata Steel warehouse is a design and build industrial dispatch and storage facility, with its own remediation plant to clean process water prior to its return to the nearby river. Extensive highway works were a key part of the project, including creating a new access road and remodelling surrounding roads and junctions. Ensuring the adjacent live factory building remained in full operation throughout the project reduced the impact of construction on the client. Pupils from Stocksbridge Junior School visited the site to bury a time-capsule at the start of construction. Meg Munn MP also visited to meet the women who worked on the scheme.

There was first class upfront planning between Tata and Henry Boot, this coupled with continuous first class project management by Mat Clarke and his team, the project is considered a resounding success. The structure that HBC put in place fully supported the project. Tata has been proud to be associated with Henry Boot Construction during this project.
