The project to renovate the Grade II listed Becor House formed the Joseph Banks Laboratories and Minster House, which accommodates the Schools of Chemistry and Life Sciences for the University of Lincoln.
This large and complex project adapted an existing industrial building to house cutting edge research facilities, including 6,000m2 of laboratories, formal and informal teaching spaces and a pharmacy. With a simple linear form with excellent natural light throughout, the building brings together over 1,600 students and employees from previously separated research groups, enabling a greater learning experience for all. Shortlisted at the prestigious RICS Yorkshire Awards, the project has proved highly successful.
I have been in the construction industry nearly 35 years, worked on the Channel Tunnel, numerous prestigious projects in London and the last five and a half years at the University of Lincoln, and I can honestly state that as far as I am concerned, Henry Boot Construction Limited are one of only two contractors I have worked with in the past which I would classify as an exceptional contractor.
