Located in the Hilltop Heptonstall Conservation Area, the scheme provided a large extension with a new main hall and classrooms for Foundation stage children.
Sympathetically positioned to the rear of the school, the design helped preserve the Conservation Area, and lessen impact on existing buildings. Strong links were forged with the school throughout, with health, safety, noise and dust management of paramount importance to the site team, alongside in-depth collaboration with the client and stakeholders.
HBC have recently completed a project at Markham Vale, a new cold store facility for Holdsworth Foods Ltd, for which I undertook the role of Employer’s Agent. The contract which was completed within budget, on programme and to a good standard of quality management on HBC’s behalf by Paul Day. I found Paul to be pro-active, conscientious, efficient and effective which in no small way had a positive influence on the successful conclusion of the project.

Regular activities were designed to provide a clear safety message. These included regular walks around the new extension and demonstrations of various construction activities, to reinforce their awareness of potential dangers on construction sites.
The project included provision of temporary accommodation with a phased construction programme. The site team worked effectively around site constraints, such as the proximity of existing buildings along the site boundary and changes in ground level.
