Last Friday we held our annual Health & Safety Awards, recognising teams and individuals for their fantastic work in maintaining standards, and announcing the latest winner of the ‘Construction Trainee of the Year’ award.
The awards were originally formed to celebrate the high-performing teams across our projects who drive our performance in this area.
Our work in health, safety and wellbeing has led to us winner numerous awards this year – including Constructing Excellence East Midlands, Constructing Excellence Yorkshire & Humber and a prestigious ‘Contractor of the Year’ prize at Insider Yorkshire Property Industry Awards.
This year the Construction Health and Safety Award was awarded to our colleagues at Headingley Learning Centre in Leeds. Matt Hible and Stacey Clasper who worked on the project were on hand to accept the award from Tony Shaw, with Dean Briggs who couldn't attend given his award by Group Safety Manager Brendon Keown shortly after.
The project team were commended for their effective management of our supply chain, going above and beyond to control hazards on site as well as scoring high in our internal inspections.
Trainee Site Manager Alecx Llamas from our Cambridge Street Collective and Elshaw House projects was named as Construction Trainee of the Year for her great work in the previous twelve months.
Tony highlighted the interest, enthusiasm and adaptability in Alecx’s work as well as her excellent attention to detail. He added that she had become a valuable member of the project team, always actively completing tasks and unafraid to ask valuable questions.
