Supporting the Sheffield Parent Carer Family Fun Day

On Friday 3 August we supported the annual Family Fun Day held at Hillsborough Sports Arena.

The day was organised by the Parent Carer Forum and aims to support families with disabled children by providing a place for parents to socialise and for children to take part in a wide range of activities. Our volunteers Dave Woodhouse and Bradley Longford helped steward the event, to ensure it ran smoothly.

The Fun Day has been running for seven years and has activities for all ages and abilities, including bungee trampolines, bouncy castles, adapted cycles, a petting zoo with exotic animals, African drumming, street dance and animation workshops, and a variety of sports and crafts. The event is organised by the Parent Carer Forum and funded by Sheffield City Council.

Parents filled in evaluation forms at the end of the day, with most rating the event as ‘excellent’, with particular praise for the many volunteers at the event.

The car parking attendants were brilliant, made my day.

Parent, Family Fun Day

It’s heart-warming to see everyone pull together to make sure our guests have a good time. For families with disabled children, the long summer holidays can be a very stressful time, and events like ours give them a much-needed break. We are grateful to Sheffield City Council for funding this popular event.
