Supporting Fareshare’s fight against hunger in the North West

During the festive period, the North West Construction Hub (NWCH) collaborated with Fareshare to support their mission to fight hunger and food waste.

The food collection event took place in Tesco stores around the UK where volunteers handed out shopping lists to customers. Quantity Surveyor, Alex Hardman joined the volunteers who were also responsible for collecting food donated. After counting all the items of food over the three-day event, Tesco’s agreed they would add an additional twenty percent on top of the items collected.

With 1,500 volunteers, millions of meals were collected for people in need, averaging at around 200 meals donated per hour. The meals were then delivered to over 7,000 charities nationwide to help vulnerable people over the festive period.

It was an enjoyable day and great to see so many people donating to the food bank. It was also a good opportunity to connect with members of the public and volunteers from other companies in the North West Construction Hub.
