Students explore opportunities at Henry Boot

Last week sixth form students from Sheffield High School for Girls and Meadowhead School joined us at Banner Cross Hall for an insight into the Henry Boot Group of Companies.

The day aimed to showcase the huge range of opportunities the Group has to offer and give the students the chance to provide their feedback and help the Henry Boot Group encourage women to consider a career in the industry.

We had a wonderful day with you: it is so enlightening for our students to see the vast range of professional opportunities available at a firm like Henry Boot, which is so much more than construction and property. I hope we can continue to work together over the coming months.

Cathy Walker, Head of Sixth Form, Sheffield Girls High

Initially, a panel of directors and senior managers from PLC and each subsidiary gave presentations on different areas of their business. Employment and Skills Manager Adeana Raper opened the presentations, followed by Chief Executive Officer John Sutcliffe who discussed his career route and explained how the Henry Boot Way joins the subsidiaries together. There was also representation from different operational areas from Henry Boot PLC including legal, HR and finance who spoke about the roles and opportunities within the business.

The students were inspired by the experiences of the female staff across a range of roles. The students particularly valued being given the opportunity to share their opinion on how to encourage more women to consider a career in the industry. Many thanks for a great experience.

Cerys Evans, Careers & Employability Development Manager, Meadowhead School

The students were given two hours to propose their ideas to a select Henry Boot panel. The resulting proposals were thoughtful and considered, with many ideas the Group will consider implementing.
