Recently, Communications Officer Catherine Spooner and Project Director Ryan O’Loughlin attended the 18-24 Job Fair at Barnsley Town Hall.

The event was specifically designed to showcase recruitment and training opportunities for those between the ages of eighteen to twenty-four. Perspective career paths included apprenticeships, full-time employment and work placements.

Hundreds of students arrived to seek advice from employers about their future careers. Both Ryan and Catherine engaged with many students during the event who were looking to seek advice about opportunities in construction. They were provided with information packs to further inform them about the opportunities available and how the construction Skills Village could help them to obtain further experience.

The event was well attended, with around 200 jobseekers having booked to visit the job fair. We had a lot of interest from people who had studied General Construction or other related subjects at college, those who already had relevant experience and others who were considering a career change. We were very impressed with the high calibre of the visitors to the stand and hopefully we will be able to help some of them to either gain additional qualifications or experience via Henry Boot Construction, the Skills Village and by referral to our sub-contractors.
