Pop-up Café raises money for Cash for Kids

It’s been thirsty work moving into the new Barnsley Markets, so we’ve given away over 1,000 hot drinks to staff, traders and contractors, raising £450 for a Barnsley dance school’s chosen charity, Cash for Kids.

The idea came from our Senior General Manager Andrew Gray who wanted to help the fundraising efforts of Fearons Middleton School of Dance, so we set up a pop-up café inside the new market before the official opening ceremony, to give the hardworking traders and staff the chance to grab a quick refreshment and donate to a great cause.

Cash for Kids was established to help disabled and disadvantaged children and young adults in local communities across the UK by giving grants to local charities and orgnanisations, who provide specialised care and support.

It was a great response from all traders, subcontractors and the site team drinking lots of tea & coffee during a busy week on site. Everyone dug deep in their pockets to fill the Cash for Kids donation bucket, so a huge thank you to all who donated.
