Open Doors at The Glass Works

As part of the UK-wide ‘Open Doors’ initiative, we will be opening up the doors at The Glass Works in Barnsley from Tuesday 17th to Friday 20th March.

‘Open Doors’ is specifically designed to challenge preconceptions about the construction industry. It will enable people to see what happens behind the hoardings, understand the various job roles required to deliver building schemes and find out more about different career opportunities.

Offering an exclusive chance to go behind the scenes of live construction sites, offices, factories and training centres, ‘Open Doors’ will allow individuals to discover more about the communities in which they live and the diverse range of jobs available in our industry.

Funded by Barnsley Council, The Glass Works in Barnsley is one of the largest projects we’re currently working on. It’s the second stage of a multi-million pound regeneration project which we commenced in March 2016. After successfully delivering Phase 1, consisting of the creation of the new state-of -the-art Library@ the Lightbox and the transformation of Barnsley Markets, Phase 2 of the works includes 100,000ft2 of new retail space and over 25,000ft2 of cafes and restaurants that will frame a new landscaped Public Square and create a new shopping route. Two key leisure anchors – Cineworld and Superbowl UK – and more than 90,000ft2 of leisure facilities are also being delivered. Professional teams include Queensberry and Turner & Townsend.
