October career events engage with hundreds of students

We are always looking to inspire young people to pursue a career in the industry and every year we visit schools, colleges and universities to showcase construction through career events, talks and practical activities.

Since the start of the academic year, our team have talked to hundreds of students about their future and below is just a snap-shot of what we’ve been doing in October.

Looking to the future in Leicester

With so many roles in the industry, speaking to industry experts like Employment and Skills Manager Adeana Raper helps give students a sense of direction. Adeana visited Leicester College to discuss career opportunities with students studying construction.

Sandra Rieger, Senior Economic Regeneration Officer said, “Leicester City Council has been working with Henry Boot on the Constructing Leicester initiative, which is supporting local individuals to increase their skills and experience in construction. Career talks allow students to gain an understanding of the range of careers available within the industry, while bringing the curriculum to life.”

Working together with the Group

This month we enjoyed a valuable collaboration with Henry Boot Developments, together attending Whittington Green School in Chesterfield speak with Year 10 and 11 students. Working with other subsidiaries in the Group ensures we can promote roles throughout construction, land and property development.

Raising awareness through assemblies

As part of our engagement programme, we regularly give assemblies in schools. Last week, Bradley Longford attended Brinsworth Academy to talk about young people’s perception of the construction industry and discuss our range of apprenticeship opportunities from Site Manager to Office Assistants.

Thank you for coming to Brinsworth Academy! We appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to speak to our Year 10 students about the wide variety of career opportunities within the construction industry.
