On 20 May we joined with hundreds of people to attempt a Guinness World Record, to celebrate the official launch of Sheffield’s Move More Month.
As one of the sponsors of the Guinness World Record attempt for ‘The most people playing hopscotch simultaneously’ we were delighted to join in on the day, so colleagues Bradley Longford and Melissa Walsh headed down to the Fly DSA Arena. There they joined teams of up to four people from other businesses and schools across Sheffield in the hope of beating the previous record of 621 set by Satilla School in the United States. With 679 people taking part, independent adjudication is still in progress but hopefully we have smashed the previous record.
The event signals the start of Move More Month which will see a variety of active events take place throughout Sheffield in June. Last year we also supported the event by sponsoring a public hopscotch laid outside of the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park. The Move More strategy is aimed at making Sheffield the most active city in the UK by 2020. For more information visit their website.
Joining in the hopscotch World Record attempt was really fun and brought back memories of primary school. It was great to be part of the event and to encourage people to get active as part of Move More Sheffield.
