Henry Boot Golf Day 2018

The inaugural Henry Boot PLC Golf Day on the 18th May was a roaring success, a great day was had by all in attendance, topped off with a huge sum of £2,800 raised for Dementia UK!

Twenty teams of four, consisting of a combination of employees from The Henry Boot Group and various other companies, were competing for various prizes throughout the day. As well as the outright winners, there were also prizes for longest drive, nearest the pin, and “Beat the Pro” competitions.

The first group out on the course at Abbeydale Golf Club teed off at 10am in glorious sunshine, which lasted the entire day and made the event so much more enjoyable for everyone involved.

The Henry Boot Construction team of Ashley Etherington, Glynn Wells, Jeff Allen and Paul Harrison won the overall tournament with a Stableford score of 81, whilst the winners of the side games were as follows:

  • Tom Perry, the club professional, was bettered by a staggering 14 players throughout the day. The “Beat the Pro” competition was £10 to enter, which contributed a large portion of the total amount raised.
  • Tom Wilsher of Hallam Land Management won the longest drive competition on the 6th hole.
  • As well as being on the winning team, Banner Plant Limited’s Glynn Wells also hit his tee shot closest to the pin on the 18th hole, and got a hole in one on the 15th!

There was also an opportunity for those not playing in the tournament to have a golf lesson from Tom Perry. It was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone, even if there were some clubs and club heads flying down the fairway!

A huge thankyou to everyone who donated and took part in the event. The sum raised is overwhelming, and we can’t wait to do it all again next year!
