Five-a-side champions at NPS Football Tournament

After the success of previous football tournaments, this year we once again took part in the NPS charity football tournament in aid of Yorkshire Cancer Research.

The tournament was held at Goals in Leeds where nine other companies competed to become champions. Our team was made up of George Melland-Dale, Ryan O'Loughlin, Carl Jeffery, Ben Tonkinson, Alex Cairns, George Talbot and team captain Tony Shaw. With three wins and a draw in the group stages, we finished top of our league and progressed to the semi-final, where we won 4-0.

The final was a tight game against Leeds City Council, with a 1-1 going into penalties. The outcome was decided when Ben Tonkinson pulled off a great save, ensuring we won the tournament. After the tournament, there was a short presentation where we collected the winner’s trophy. It was a great event raising money for a regional charity that provides valuable support to those with cancer, with over £2,000 on the day.

Qualification from the group stage was looking difficult at 2-0 down in our second game, however, we showed great character in recovering to win 3-2, giving us the belief that we could win the tournament. Great performance by the lads. We’ve conquered Sheffield and Leeds in our last two tournaments… where next?
