Ryan O’Loughlin has been appointed as a new trustee at Lighthouse, a charity that provides emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families.
Founded by a small group of workers in 1956, the charity provides a range of free resources that support the industry and its workers. Due to receiving no public funding, they rely on the generosity of those within the industry and various fundraising events.
As a trustee of the charity, Ryan will be responsible for attending meetings to provide good governance and risk management as well as playing a part in promoting the charity’s work and fundraising opportunities.
The charity provides emotional, physical and financial, information, advice and guidance to construction families in crisis. These services are delivered through its 24/7 Construction Industry Helpline and supporting app. The charity also delivers emergency financial aid to relieve poverty and a range of free educational seminars to promote workforce wellbeing.
In 2020 the charity supported 2400 construction families in crisis and trained over 2700 construction workers through its wellbeing seminars during the pandemic.
My dad has been a bricklayer for the past 46 years so I understand the health and wellbeing challenges that construction workers can face. The Lighthouse Charity do an amazing job supporting these workers and their families. My role as a trustee is an opportunity to contribute to this good work and give something back to an industry that has provided me with a fantastic career.
Ryan O'Loughlin, Director
We are delighted that Ryan has joined our Charity’s Board of Trustees. Ryan’s wealth of industry knowledge and experience from the sharp end of construction will ensure that we keep our charitable services relevant to the construction industry workforce.
