Concourse refurbishment for University of Sheffield

Works are almost complete on a project to refurbish the concourse area at the University of Sheffield, as part of plans to improve this important public space between the Alfred Denny building and Sheffield University Students' Union.

The work includes the removal and replacement of old and damaged items including paving, fencing, railings and walls. The new public space will comprise of a mixture of concrete and granite paving and setts, supplemented with bespoke seating. A big part of the project is the feature lighting scheme which will create a brighter and safer environment and make the area more attractive to students, staff and the general public.

Further works include the maintenance and refurbishment of drains, along with the installation of other services, such as electronic totems and power systems. New plants and trees will be established to enhance the surrounding area and encourage new wildlife. The project will be completed later this summer, ready for the new term in September.

We are really pleased to have been appointed to carry out this project which will transform a key thoroughfare for the University into an attractive and usable social space.
