We recently demolished the multi-storey car park in Barnsley town centre, making way for the next phase of The Glass Works development.

Around 800 charges were used by Precision Demolition Company Ltd (PDC) to safely bring down the car park in the early hours of Sunday morning on 27 January. Most of the rubble from the 6,500-tonne building will be kept on site and recycled to use during the next phase of the town centre development.

The £450,000 cost of the demolition was part funded by a £7.4m grant from Sheffield City Region’s Local Growth Fund - government funding that is awarded to Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) for projects that benefit the local area and economy.

The demolition was also part funded by a £1.75million investment towards The Glass Works from the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP), delivered by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority through the Leeds City Region Growth Deal – a £1 billion package of Government investment to accelerate growth and create jobs across Leeds City Region.
