Brookfield Campus hosts work experience students

Three work experience students from Leicester College have spent a valuable week on-site at Brookfield Campus. The placements were tailored to each student’s career ambitions including Civil Engineer, Site Manager and Quantity Surveyor.

The experience was set up by Leicester Employment Hub as part of the plan to boost employment and skills in the local community. Sandra Rieger, who organised the placement as part of the Council’s Constructing Leicester initiative, said: “Leicester City Council has been working with Henry Boot Construction on the Constructing Leicester initiative, which is supporting local individuals to increase their skills and experience in construction.”

Jonathan Smallwood, aspiring Quantity Surveyor, said: “I have enjoyed my experience at Henry Boot Construction and have learnt valuable skills to be successful in the industry. In the future, I hope to develop these skills with an apprenticeship.”

The opportunity to spend the week alongside the site management is the best and most relevant experience a ‘Built Environment’ student can have, so thank you Henry Boot Construction for the experience and showing me how the processes work and projects get built.

When completed Brookfield Campus will provide a bright, healthy and productive working environment for colleagues in the School of Business and an outstanding environment for students and visitors.
