Breaking a sweat for Mental Health Awareness Week

On Friday, we participated in a HIIT fitness event to fundraise for Mind during this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week, which ran from 13th to 19th May.

The afternoon aimed to show the benefits of exercise on mental health alongside raising funds for Mind. Held at the Wow Fitness Centre in Sheffield, our team of seven were shown the ropes (literally) and challenged to an intensive HIIT class using a range of weights and equipment. Following the session, the team went on a walk to cool down, followed by an informative and open mental health talk by trainer Brad.

The event was sponsored by Henry Boot PLC and the team raised £700 by participating in the event. A big thank you to Jordan and Brad at Wow Fitness for running and hosting this insightful event.

The afternoon HIIT class was very fun and challenging. It opened my eyes to mental health, seeing how exercise and other activities influence how you feel. I learnt just how important any type of exercise is for your mental wellbeing. The afternoon was enjoyable all thanks to Jordan and Brad, who were fantastic hosts.
