The project was commissioned by Calderdale Borough Council and incorporates new classrooms, an outdoor play area and a new hall for community use.
In stage one, the new extension and classrooms will be created; in stage two, the existing school will be refurbished and a new ICT Suite, library, music/cooking room and entrance reception/office area will be incorporated into the existing building.
In stage three, a new playground with multi-use games area will be constructed, with separate car parking area. All works are due to be completed by February 2012 and the school will remain open throughout the project.
The project is designed to a BREEAM Education ‘Very Good’ rating, and features Durisol wood blocks, high specification insulation and hybrid windows in addition to extensive re-use of materials throughout.
