Natural Resources

Play our part in protecting and enhancing biodiversity and the natural environment

We are keenly aware that the construction process can be disruptive and hazardous to important local habitats and species. Because of this, we take all necessary steps to protect existing site biodiversity, and within the immediate surroundings. We also look for opportunities to enhance biodiversity and minimise the use of precious natural resources in the course of our projects and operations. Initiatives include:

  • Identifying protection measures at Environmental Impact Assessment stage, and advising the client accordingly.
  • Offering guidance and ideas for biodiversity protection and enhancement, including the option of a Biodiversity Action Plan.
  • Measuring and managing our on–site water use as an important natural resource, using our bespoke performance management toolkit.
  • Water footprinting on selected projects, such as BREEAM rated schemes.
  • Design and installation of green roofs.
  • Creating wildflower verges within client schemes and in the local community.
  • Use of bat and bird boxes on client sites and at our own office locations.
