Manor Works is a high quality 1,560m2 centre for Manor Development Company Ltd, incorporating offices, workshops, flexible co-working spaces and conference rooms.

Constructed as a special purpose regeneration vehicle, the building helps create employment opportunities and delivers educational activities for local people and small businesses, encouraging local investment. The scheme was so successful it won the regional RIBA Yorkshire Award and the RIBA Yorkshire Building of the Year Award.

We are delighted that the efforts of everyone involved in the delivery of the Manor Works, a new Community Enterprise Hub at the Alison Business Centre, has been recognised with it being named as the RIBA Yorkshire Building of the Year Award. Particularly, those in Henry Boot Construction’s team showed a resolute commitment to delivering quality in all aspects of construction.

Henry Boot was involved in the project two years before work started, offering extensive value engineering savings that enable the project to proceed within tight budget constraints. The local community were also involved throughout the project and invited to open days to contribute their views, leading to improvements to the scheme.

Project details

Manor Works incorporates many innovative design features, including:

  • A hybrid fair-faced concrete and timber frame construction
  • Perforated aluminium rain screen cladding that opens to reveal full-length glazed folding doors.
  • Internal rustic feel with power floated concrete floors and walls clad in birch with exposed timbers.
