Henry Boot Construction recently completed a £1.2 million design and build project to refurbish the existing Management School for the University of Sheffield and build a new three storey extension, providing key services for staff and students in the Crookesmoor area of Sheffield. The project was completed in 40 weeks.

Work on the project included the demolition of the existing entrance and erection of a new three storey extension, which has created a large open plan office space for professional services along with the development of a larger Employability Hub. In addition, the construction of additional staff offices provides
further space for academic staff.

Henry Boot Construction made sure local residents were always kept informed about the scheme by post, minimising the impact of the project on the local area.

It was vital for Henry Boot to minimise disruption to the daily running of the busy Management School during construction. Continuous communication with the Management School throughout construction helped achieve this, in addition to providing weekly progress updates to the client. Adopting flexible build schedules also ensured construction worked around the needs of the Management School.

“The new extension at the Management School created a large open plan office space for professional services...The new extension blends perfectly with the existing building work and has provided additional space necessary to house our increased numbers of staff, as well as expand our Employability Hub in line with the school’s strategy.”
