Last month, Team Henry Boot raised nearly £10,000 for Roundabout during the Bangers and Cash challenge, becoming one of JustGiving’s most successful fundraisers in September. The team were also awarded Top Fundraiser by the charity at the event.

Bangers and Cash is the first art-fuelled charity roadshow in the UK. It began with 21 teams, each buying an old car for £650, with the bonnet specially painted by a local artist; all with the challenge of driving 2,400 miles from Sheffield to Monte Carlo in just four days.

We couldn’t resist the opportunity to help Roundabout, who provide emergency accommodation to homeless young people in Sheffield. So, Dave Woodhouse and Richard Grafton buckled up and set off for an adventure in Team Henry Boot’s MG TF. Nicknamed ‘Bez’, the car was painted by graphic artist Rob Lee with his signature design, ‘Go Faster Stripes’.

All teams departed from Meadowhall on 21 September and travelled through Brussels, Lucerne, and Milan, completing a series of challenges along the way. ‘Bez’ proved an excellent runner, getting the team all the way to Monte Carlo without a hitch.

“The company has taken up the fundraising challenge with dedication and commitment exceeding the minimum fundraising target of £2k to raise more than £9k before the rally has even taken place. It is a testament to their relationships with their clients and partners who have responded with such generosity for Roundabout and the Bangers and Cash project.”

Claire Collingworth, Fundraising and Communications Manager, Roundabout

Kindly sponsored by Brantingham Homes, H E Barnes, Whittam Cox Architects and LX Engineering, along with support and generosity from other companies and individuals, Team Henry Boot raised five times their original target, a magnificent result.

Dave said: “The rally was a big challenge and Richard and I found it exhausting, but everyone we met from the other teams and businesses made it a really good laugh and we all got there together, thoroughly enjoying the experience.”

“We’re a Sheffield company and we do a lot of work in the city, so it’s great to support Roundabout. A huge thank you to our sponsors and all those who have made it possible to help change the lives of young people in our community.”

All car bonnets will now be auctioned for Roundabout. Visit the auction site to see the designs and place a bid.
