The Tough Mudder Challenge is well known as one of the toughest and dirtiest obstacle courses. Despite this, several of our employees from the Henry Boot Group decided to take on this challenge for charity on 19-20 May. Participants included Lydia McGuiness from Henry Boot Construction and Rob Hughes, Chris Winder and Glenn Palmer from Banner Plant.

The team ran the full ten-mile Midlands event to raise funds for Dementia UK. This charity is particularly close to the hearts of many at the Henry Boot Group, including Rob Hughes, whose father was diagnosed with dementia over ten years ago.

The challenge consisted of a ten-mile race, including twenty obstacles, all completed on a hot day at the Belvoir Castle in Grantham. The obstacles push challengers to their limits as they struggle through 500,000 litres of mud and forty tons of ice.

“Tough Mudder tested my physical strength, stamina, and mental grit. I took on more than twenty obstacles in twenty degrees heat while fighting my way through the mud, but it was all worth it for the sense of achievement and the money that we raised for Dementia UK.”

All of the challengers from the Henry Boot Group completed the course and managed to raise over £500 for the charity.
