Student ambassadors from Horizon Community College, Holy Trinity and Dearne ALC visited the Gladstone House Complex site at Bowbridge Road in Newark as part of their Cutlers programme to explore what goes on at a live construction site and to gain an insights into what happens behind the scenes.

The tour was led by our Project Manager Adam Houlston who told the students about all the important factors that must be considered before, during and after a project is completed. Students then made notes in their site workbook to record their visit for evidence for the Cutlers programme.

Throughout the visit, the students were keen to ask questions about different job roles involved on site. Some members of the site team discussed their own career paths so that students gained an idea of what it takes to get to their position.

The trip meant that students could expand their knowledge of the construction industry through a practical experience which could prove to be useful when deciding their future careers.

The scheme will include 60 flats made up of 48 one-bedroom and 12 two-bedroom homes.

Construction work started in August last year and is due to be completed by Christmas with residents due to move in early next year.

“I never knew so much time and work goes into a project! Even though the building looks finished on the outside there was still a lot of work to do on the inside as the teams work against the clock to get it finished before Christmas.”
