Newark and Sherwood Homes held an open day at the Bowbridge Road Extra Care Housing Scheme on 1 September 2017, to celebrate the ongoing works onsite.

A ‘behind the scenes’ tour was organised for the Newark Advertiser to come and visit the site to see the progress being made on the scheme. Newly appointed apprentices from Newark and Sherwood Homes were also invited to witness first-hand the kind of work that goes on each day on site.

The facility will include 60 flats made up of 48 one-bedroom and 12 two-bedroom homes.

Construction started in August last year and is due to be completed by December 2017. It will be fitted out and be ready for residents in March 2018.

“The building is designed to last at least 60 years. We are putting a bit into future-proofing it and there will be broadband fitted throughout”

Peter Harley, Business Development Manager, Newark & Sherwood Homes

“60 to 70 people a day have been working on the development. They include apprentices, trainee planner and trainee quantity surveyor”

Adam Houlston, Project Manager, Henry Boot Construction

“A special thanks to Chloe Rowberry, Ben Ford-Shaw and Aaron Sarafat for being very patient with all photos and questions in your first week on the job!”

Izabela Olendzki, Marketing and Media Officer, Newark & Sherwood Homes
