BIM – 4D Simulation of Yeadon Extra Care Housing Scheme – 27/04/16

Henry Boot Construction are continuing to invest and develop BIM competences at our Extra Care Housing scheme in Yeadon which is being delivered for Leeds City Council.  Project Planner Philip Lambourne has been utilising ASTA power project's BIM software to create 4D simulations of the building.

The 4D simulation is created by linking the construction programme to objects in the architect's and structural engineer's models.  We have created a simulation of the concrete frame being constructed, which allows us to show progress to the client that reflects what can be seen out on site.  This also allows us to understand the space we are working in better and as the simulation is developed on future projects we will be looking to simulate temporary works and the areas needed for plant and machinery.

“Developing 4D simulation skills within the Planning Department is a key focus over the next 12 months.  Utilising ASTA power project's BIM functionality, in conjunction with the design team’s models provides us with a key opportunity to improve the buildability and communication of our programmes to both clients and our supply chain partners.”
