Stocksbridge Update – Work begins on the main retail site – 06/02/15

Henry Boot Construction has commenced construction on the main retail and office development at Fox Valley, Stocksbridge with completion due in spring 2016.

Piling and foundation work is now underway on the main retail blocks for 25 new units, with steelwork expected to start going up on site early spring. New highways work has also started to upgrade road links on Manchester Road.

The first phase of the project has already been delivered and included a new roundabout on the A616 Sheffield to Manchester and the completion of a brand new warehouse and storage facility for Tata Speciality Steel to allow for the relocation of a former steel stockyard.

The Fox Valley Scheme is a £42m redevelopment of the former Outokumpu site in Stocksbridge town centre for Dransfield Properties. The 28 acre site will deliver:

  •   Around 25 new retail units ranging from 635 to 16,000 sq ft
  •   Café and restaurant units
  •   Office space ranging from 600 to 10,000 sq ft
  •   New town centre car park for approximately 600 spaces
  •   Comprehensive landscaping, water feature and new pedestrian links
  •   A new housing development neighbouring the main retail scheme

“We’ve made a great deal of progress on site since work started last March, but it’s this next few months when we’ll really start to see the dramatic changes at Fox Valley and the whole development beginning to take shape.

This is a complex site and much of the work in recent months has been preparing for this point and the start of the main town centre scheme. We’ll be celebrating this milestone in the project over the next few weeks with a special ceremony on site.”
