Barnsley College students visit CEAG carpark scheme – 11/12/15

Barnsley Student Site Visit

Henry Boot Construction’s CEAG car park team hosted a group of HNC students from Barnsley College this week, where they visited site to gain some first-hand practical experience of site life.

The students appreciated seeing construction in practice and benefitted from experiencing the practical side of their studies along with discussions regarding risk assessments and health and safety issues.

The former CEAG site, will be transformed into a car park with enough space for 170 vehicles by March 2016.

There will be dedicated spaces with locking facilities for motorcycles and 10 secure cycle storage lockers. There have been numerous requests for both types of provision via consultation events and comments made in the Better Barnsley shop.

It will also house a charging point for electric vehicles. Works will be managed by Barnsley Councils Highways Team.

An exciting feature of the new carpark will be the light wall, which will improve the retaining wall to the Harborough Hill Road flyover.

“Many thanks for letting our HNC students visit the Kendray Road site yesterday. Although the primary purpose of the visit was to discuss risk assessments and other health & safety issues, you were also kind enough to give us a tour of the site and talk about the works. This type of experience is invaluable to our students and affords them the opportunity to view different areas of work that the construction industry undertakes.”
