Our Chief Buyer, Mick Tomlinson, took part in the first ever sleepout at Bramall Lane, the home of Sheffield United FC, for charities Roundabout and the St Wilfrid’s Centre.

Organised in collaboration with The Blades, Sheffield United Community Foundation and the two charities, 500 people took part in the experience of sleeping rough inside the football stadium to raise vital funds for the two local charities with Mick raising over £200 for the worthwhile cause.

Both charities provide support within the Sheffield area with St Wilfrid’s Centre providing a day centre open to all the homeless, vulnerable and socially excluded adults aged between 18 and 65 years old. The centre provides basic welfare and support with access to appropriate services.

Whilst the Roundabout Charity supports over 150 young people every day in Sheffield, and is the only service in the Sheffield area that accepts 16 and 17 year olds on an emergency basis, it supports and encourages young people to think about the future, provide life skills, education and accommodation.

“This was 5 star sleeping rough, but even so a real eye opener. Thanks to everyone for generously sponsoring me and raising funds for two local charities, it made it all worthwhile”
