PV installation at Dunfields student accommodation – 06/11/14

Henry Boot Construction recently completed the installation of a 42kWp Solar Photovoltaic array at Dunfields Student Accommodation, Sheffield. The array is divided between eighteen properties with eight 1.5kWp and ten 3kWp systems.

The installation to the accommodation blocks will be one of the first in the UK to feature Renusol Low Ballast mounting systems which suits an east to west system and requires very little ballast due to the aerodynamic nature of the mounting system. Each 1.5kWp system will generate 1153kWh per year and save 11 tonnes of CO2, with the 3kWp system generating 2307kWh and savings of 23 tonnes of CO2 per year.

Dunfields is the first boutique student letting company in Sheffield and is designed by multi award winning architects Coda Studios.  The Kelham Island development of eighteen 4 and 5 bed townhouses with roof gardens, terraces and outdoor gym equipment for residents will be eco-friendly achieving Code for Sustainable Homes Code 3 helping to reduce the energy bills and enhance rental income. Each student room will have different features such as roof gardens, patios or double beds and individually styled to create a unique look for each room type.

“Henry Boot has provided a one stop design and installation service which has been seamless from start to finish – we are delighted to have worked with a local firm to deliver such a unique development that sets new standards in design and sustainability.”
