Henry Boot Construction’s Training Advisor Adeana Raper recently attended the BiG Challenge Flying Start Event.

The BiG Challenge is part of the BiG Enterprise Programme which is funded through Sheffield City Council and the European Regional Development Fund. The Challenge encourages 11-19 year old students from across Sheffield’s secondary schools and colleges to develop and operate a business as part of a team.

The Flying Start Event is the first awards event in the BiG Challenge 2014 calendar that rewards businesses for their projects and progress so far. Prizes went to first place, Heartfelt from All Saints Catholic High School with Joint Runners up Hazel’s Cakes from Westbourne and Birkdale Schools and Hessian Designs from Tapton School. Six other schools and colleges were highly commended at the event.

“The BiG Challenge competition encourages young people to use their imagination and creativity in forming a business. The Flying Start Awards gives added impetus to the students to continue to grow their ideas. These young people could be future business leaders and employers in Sheffield. It was a privilege to attend such an event.”
