Steve McClaren cuts the ribbon at Codnor Sports Pavilion – 22/11/13

Steve Mcclaren Codnor Official Opening

Ian Gresser, Brett Rhodes, Jonathan Fassihi and Mick Nuttall have rubbed shoulders with former England Football manager, Steve McClaren, as he cut the ribbon at the official opening ceremony of the Codnor Sports Pavilion in Derbyshire.

The event was attended by over 100 local people, dignitaries and sporting heroes all of whom were noticeably impressed with the state-of-the-art facilities the building has to offer.

Commenting on the pavilion McClaren, who is currently manager at Derby County, said: “ It’s great to see what people can achieve by working together, it’s fantastic building. It just really shows how football brings people together.”

After viewing the new changing rooms he joked “this must be a luxury” having discovered that youngsters had no option but to change in portable cabins for several years after the former Codnor Miners Welfare building burned down in 2008.

“This is one project that has made a huge difference to the local community and we were all delighted to represent Henry Boot Construction at the official opening ceremony. We’re looking forward to working on similar construction projects in the future.”
