Westcliffe Primary School Turf Cutting – 08/03/11

Westcliffe Primary School

The first sod of turf has been cut at the WestcliffePrimary School site in Scunthorpe, starting an 80-week multi-million pound programme of works for Henry Boot Construction’s Eastern Division.

Staff from North Lincolnshire Council and Henry Boot Construction met councillors on site yesterday for the turf cutting ceremony, which was also attended by children from the school.

The project is funded by North Lincolnshire Council and sees the creation of a new single and two-story 315 place school, with an adjacent twenty-six place nursery and children’s centre.

With major sustainable elements, the new buildings will be constructed in the grounds of the existing school, which will be demolished and the area landscaped after staff and pupils move into their new facilities.

“We are delighted to be starting construction on the Westcliffe Primary School scheme – having worked successfully with North Lincolnshire Council on a number of recent projects, we look forward to building a school the community can be proud of.”
