European experience for trainee managers – 04/03/11

Trainee Managers

Two trainee managers from Henry Boot Construction’s Eastern Division are heading off for Belgium this weekend, as part of an education programme aimed at sharing expertise in sustainable construction.

Jack Duncan and Jason Elsdon will spend two weeks learning about the Passive House Project, initially in the classroom, followed up by some hands-on site experience.

The scheme is run jointly by Business & Education South Yorkshire and Les Compagnons de Devoir, and is the first of its kind in Europe.

It brings together ten major eco-building suppliers and aims to build participants’ knowledge of environmentally sustainable housing construction, with particular focus on the ‘Passive House’ system, where the buildings heat and cool themselves.

''I think the trip highlights a commitment by Henry Boot Construction to developing managers of the future.  It shows how much time and effort they are willing to put into young individuals to help them gain more experience, develop their knowledge and give them the opportunity to have varied and interesting placements.”
