YORbuild TeenTech challenge for Humberside youngsters – 28/07/11

KC Stadium, TeenTech event run in conjunction with Humber EBP Thursday 14 July 2011, Wolfreton School, YOR BUILD CHALLENGE

Henry Boot Construction has helped create a ‘Crystal Maze’ style challenge aimed at inspiring young people to get involved with science, technology, engineering and maths in the Humberside region.

Developed alongside YORbuild, a framework organisation delivering Local Authority building projects throughout Yorkshire and the Humber, the event saw teenagers collecting pieces of jigsaw from five different zones all linked to different areas of the curriculum.

At the end of the challenge, in the construction zone, they put together the jigsaw and completed the challenge – the team who completed in the fastest time won the Grand Prize.

The TeenTech event is a lively interactive event designed to inspire young people in Years 8 and 9 about careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. The event took place at the KC Stadium, Hull on Thursday 14th July 2011.

The YORbuild Challenge was supported by Construction Skills and Henry Boot Construction who provided staff resources on the day to support the event.

“This kind of activity relates very closely to the strong commitment that YORbuild has to employment and skills and presents a great opportunity to promote careers in construction - we are really grateful to Henry Boot Construction for their support on the day.”

Mark Scott, Employment and Skills Coordinator for the YORbuild Framework
