Henry Boot Construction’s Shirecliffe New Homes project has scooped a prestigious Green Apple award, in addition to their recent RICS Pro-Yorkshire nomination and RIBA Housing Design Award.

The Green Apple Awards 2011 are part of a campaign to find Britain’s greenest companies and winners will feature in The Green Book, a leading international work of reference for best practice in green construction.

HBC will find out which award they have won at a ceremony at The University of Westminster in June, and a number of category winners will be put forward to the European Business Awards for the Environment.

The Shirecliffe site has attracted a number of awards and was featured in a recent edition of Eco Building Magazine because of a pilot project funded by HBC exploring ways of meeting Level 5 of the Code for Sustainable Homes when the site was designed to Level 4.

“Receiving yet another award for our environmental credentials helps show the wider world that sustainability and responsibility are at the heart of our business operations.
“With the recent launch of our new Renewables Division, our focus and commitment to minimising our carbon footprint and helping to meet government greenhouse gas reduction targets is evident to all.”
