New Surgical Assessment Centre – 18/10/10

Henry Boot Construction handed over the new £1.3m Surgical Assessment Centre at Northern General Hospital today, following a successful refurbishment programme delivered over 26 weeks.

Initial surveys identified that the water and drainage systems could not be diverted to suit the new layout of the building, which would have impacted on the programme and client occupation date.

The site team worked closely with the designers to overcome this challenge. By adopting a flexible approach to out of hours and weekend working, they were able to ensure that the job was completed on time.

The refurbishment and remodelling of the existing Burns Unit is the third successful project to be handed over on a four-year partnering framework with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Trust.

“Considerable forward planning and co operation was required to achieve a successful outcome.”
