Providing equipment for the Free-Thinking programme – 26/04/2018

Extract from the Barnsley Chronicle

We recently donated equipment to Northern College in Barnsley for a rose planting ceremony, to help benefit the launch of their new Free-Thinking programme. This programme has been developed as a pilot scheme for students who have experienced significant trauma through modern slavery and human trafficking. Henry Boot Construction also assisted by providing additional equipment for the new Forest School, where the programme will be held.

The ten-week programme of residential education is designed to develop students’ confidence and skills to help them live, work and study in the UK.

“Many thanks to Henry Boot Construction for your generous donation of the items for the new Forest School and for providing the spade and compost for the rose planting ceremony for the launch of the Free-Thinking Project.”

Paul Gibbon, Lecturer, Northern College

The course is due to start in May and will be the first of its kind in the country. If it proves successful, and if long-term funding can be secured, the course may continue more permanently.
