The prestigious Considerate Constructors Award has been presented to us in recognition of our involvement and liaison with residents during the refurbishment of homes in the historic Derbyshire village of Creswell.
SOUTH YORKSHIRE GREEN BUSINESS CLUB
Henry Boot Construction (UK) has joined the South Yorkshire Green Business Club which, amongst other objectives, encourages members to develop and use environmentally sound management practices. It provides expert advice on environmental legislation and green issues relevant to the business community.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
We again reduced the number of reportable incidents on our many sites during the past year, and continue to enjoy full accreditation under the demanding Contractors’ Health and Safety Assessment Scheme.
NEW CONTRACTS
£11.7M UPGRADING AT HM PRISON, LEEDS
Extensive upgrading of existing premises is to be carried out at HM Prison, Leeds, in a 74 week contract due to be completed in October 2008.
£8M GARDEN CENTRE AND RETAIL COMPLEX, SHEFFIELD
Work is progressing smoothly on the construction of a state-of-the-art combined garden centre and retail complex at Barlborough Links, nr Sheffield for Dobbies Garden Centres plc, the second largest garden centre operator in the UK. The project will be completed in time to allow the centre to open for trading in October 2007.
£2.5M RETAIL REFURBISHMENT, SHEFFIELD
Alterations and refurbishment works are to be carried out to existing retail units at Drake House Retail Park, Sheffield for Hammerson Property Limited. Project completion is scheduled for summer 2007.
£5.5M TOWER BLOCK IMPROVEMENTS, HULL
Two multi-storey residential tower blocks at Great Thornton Street are to be refurbished in Hull, with completion scheduled for December 2007. Each of the 1960s-built tower blocks, with a total of 224 flats, are to have structural repairs and internal improvements to Decent Homes specifications.
ADDITIONAL £3.2M TOWER BLOCK IMPROVEMENT, HULL
Following on from the earlier award, a further 112 flats are to be improved at Lindsey Place in Hull. Completion is scheduled for March 2008.
MAJOR FRAMEWORK AGREEMENTS
DERBY CITY COUNCIL STRATEGIC PARTNERING AGREEMENT
Following the successful delivery of a previous framework contract for Derby City Council, we have been chosen as a partner to deliver the refurbishment of existing and new build construction of all non-housing projects over a five year period. This will initially involve education sector works.
FIVE-YEAR HOUSING REFURBISHMENT IN ROTHERHAM
We are currently working as one of four partners to deliver the £272m Decent Homes refurbishment programme for 2010 Rotherham Limited, a company formed by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council to manage the town’s council housing stock.
Approximately 22,500 houses in the area are being fitted with new kitchens, bathrooms, central heating, electrical rewires and external repairs over the 2006-2010 period.
SEVEN-YEAR CONTRACT FOR THE NATIONAL OFFENDERS MANAGEMENT SERVICE
As a chosen Preferred Alliance Contractor with NOMS (which has brought together the work of the prison and probation services), Henry Boot Construction (UK) is engaged in a seven-year partnering framework agreement for delivery of refurbishment works at 'secure' establishments in the North East of England. A number of security upgrades and refurbishments have been undertaken in past months, and major works are currently underway at other sites.
FIVE-YEAR CONSTRUCTION PARTNERSHIP WITH ROTHERHAM COUNCIL
A partnering contract agreement is in place with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council for the provision of non-housing projects over the next five years.
FIVE-YEAR CONTRACT WITH CHESHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
Work has been completed on a number of construction projects as part of a on-going five-year education partnering framework agreement with Cheshire County Council.
PARTNERING AGREEMENT ON SHEFFIELD COUNCIL'S HOUSING REFURBISHMENT SCHEME
Henry Boot Construction (UK) is working as a partnering contractor with Sheffield Homes on the council’s massive Decent Homes Programme, the largest of its kind in the country.
PARTNERING CONTRACTOR FOR 'PLACES FOR PEOPLE' HOUSING PROJECTS
We are one of only four framework contractors appointed by Places for People to carry out work in the North East over the next four years. Places for People is one of the largest property management and development organisations in the country.
