What Can We Offer?
We can provide training opportunities for all level of applicant from 16 year old school leavers through to graduates. We can offer personal development programmes which will lead to the membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), and includes access to a range of nationally recognised development programmes. Once you have completed your training period, there is plenty of scope for further professional and personal development within the organisation, we have ex-trainees working at every level within the company.

Recruitment Areas

APPRENTICE JOINERS & BRICKLAYERS
Young people joining Henry Boot as Apprentice Joiners and Bricklayers will be required to attend college to study for an NVQ up to and including Level 3 in a related subject area, in agreement with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). In conjunction with this, apprentices are required to put their training into practice by working on a Henry Boot site whilst not attending college.

Our apprentices are expected to:
  • Have a good standard of education, including Maths and English
  • Be able to work well alone or with others
  • Like working out of doors
  • Be honest, reliable and have initiative
TRAINEE TECHNICIAN
In the first two years of this four or five year programme, entrants will gain experience in Site Management, Planning, Estimating, Quantity Surveying, Purchasing, Design Architecture and Land Buying as appropriate, and will then be given the opportunity to specialise in one of the foregoing areas and develop their careers.

Entry Requirements
A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above including Maths, English and a Science subject

Entrants at this level will be given the opportunity to combine job training with day release to study for an ONC in Building/Construction Studies, followed by a HNC in Building/Construction Studies where appropriate.

TRAINEE QUANTITY SURVEYORS
In the first two years of this four or five year programme, entrants not only gain experience in Quantity Surveying but also in Estimating, Engineering and Purchasing by way of an introduction to the construction industry, at the end of which they will concentrate on Quantity Surveying.

Entry Requirements
Entrants are required to have two academic A Levels, plus Maths and English at GCSE grade C or above, alternatively a HNC in Building Studies.
Entrants at this level will be given the opportunity to combine job training with day release to study for BSc in Quantity Surveying, leading to membership of the RICS.
