Building Information Modelling

The UK Government is driving forward a programme of modernisation within the construction sector, central to which is the adoption of Building Information Modelling techniques – BIM will be at the heart of all government-procured projects by 2016.

At Henry Boot Construction, we are providing training and support for our in-house resources to develop the expertise and experience needed to raise industry standards and deliver improved project outcomes for our valued client base.

Our aim is that projects will be built quicker, more cost-effectively and with less on-site clashes through the use of BIM, with ongoing client benefits way beyond completion.

We are currently working towards achieving BIM Level 2 - creating a managed 3D environment for the coordination of digital data, training all professional staff members in the implementation of BIM and developing our in-house strategies and policies to incorporate the necessary amendments for a changing industry.

We have appointed a BIM Champion – Kevin Dight - to implement these changes and lead the way on a number of case studies and NFB-sponsored exemplar projects. Kevin also sits on the Yorkshire and Humberside BIM Task Group, helping to shape the future of our industry from the inside.

Key staff members are now trained in the use of Autodesk Revit, QTO and Navisworks, which is also linked to our existing planning software. A comprehensive training programme is being rolled out throughout the company, giving our clients the assurance they need that Henry Boot Construction is well placed and thoroughly prepared to manage BIM effectively.

We embrace collaborative working, and believe it is the best way of collectively improving project outcomes for all stakeholders.
